Temple's MPP program was proud to sponsor three seats for current students and alumni in Young Involved Philadelphia's Spring 2024 Board Prep Program. Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) is a non-profit organization "with a mission to connect, engage, and represent young Philadelphians. YIP engages its more than 6,000 members through education about civic affairs, advocacy around key issues, and social events; connects young Philadelphians to civic groups and civic groups to one another; and represents the young demographic by creating a channel of communication between young Philadelphians, business, and government." YIP's Board Prep Program "is a leadership development program designed to prepare young professionals for non-profit board service."
The Board Prep Program is a fantastic professional development opportunity for MPP students and alumni who want to learn more about non-profit board governance in order to serve on a non-profit board in the future or improve their performance as a current board member for a non-profit organization.
The MPP program is excited to once again sponsor seats for current students and alumni for the Fall 2024 Board Prep Program. Keep reading below to learn about the experiences of two of the MPP alumni that participated in the program in Spring 2024!

"The Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) Board Prep program has been a great experience to gain insight and knowledge about the realities of non-profit organizations in Philadelphia and beyond. The program has been amazing to network with a variety of diverse organizations and other passionate individuals. It has done a phenomenal job of networking its graduates with non-profits across the city and region that are seeking young and passionate board members. I am proud to say that I will be serving on the board of the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership. TTF is an organization focused connecting communities to and restoring the TTF watershed."

"As someone who was already familiar with the nonprofits, YIP's Board Prep Program exceeded my expectations. During each session, I was given the opportunity to expand what I knew and ask the hard-hitting questions to professionals who work in the nonprofit sector every day. In the end, I came out with a much better understanding of what serving on the Board of a nonprofit truly entails and with immediate connections to nonprofits looking for Board members throughout Philadelphia. It was a very rewarding experience and I'm so thankful I got the opportunity to participate!"
