Graduate Admissions for International Students

Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts welcomes international students. Our international students come from more than 130 countries across the globe and significantly contribute to our cultural and intellectual communities. Students holding, or in need of a non-immigrant visa are considered an international applicant. In addition to the admission application instructions above, international applicants must also submit the following materials:

Transcripts

International applicants must upload an unofficial copy of their academic records, (transcript, diploma documents and degree certificate must validate conferral of a degree) for each school/college attended for the review process. 

If admitted, official copies of all academic records must be received prior to matriculation into the program and/or upon arrival to campus or the offer will be rescinded.

Ways to submit Documents

  • Request each school or college you have attended send an official electronic transcript to the department in which you are applying

         OR

  • You may enlist the services of a credential evaluation organization to have an official academic report sent to the Graduate School. For an approved list of evaluators, such as World Education Services - WES, please refer to the  NACES website and use the Temple University code 2906. Providing this number will ensure your documents are sent to the correct school. 

Standardized Test Scores 

If you have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a U.S. institution, you are not required to submit a TOEFL/IELT scores. However, you must request an exemption from this requirement by sending an email to your program of interest contact.

  • GRE - Most of our programs no longer require GRE scores in their admissions process.  Programs that do not require GRE scores may consider them as part of a holistic evaluation of application materials if submitted. Please refer to the application requirements of each program. 
  • TOEFL scores should be sent by the testing agency to Temple University using school code 2906.
  • IELTs Score reports must be sent to the Graduate School at the address below or emailed directly to the program of interest contact:

  • Duolingo scores are accepted. Please email scores to the program of interest in which you are applying.

International students are encouraged to reach out to the office of Temple's International Student and Scholar Services site for assistance with questions about visa applications and all matters related to life as an international student.  If you have program specific questions, contact the department to which you are applying.
