Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, Stanley and Debra Lefkowitz Distinguished Faculty Fellow in the Department of Psychology at Temple University, appeared on Good Morning America on January 27 to promote the newly revised edition of her best-selling 2003 book, Einstein Never Used Flash Cards: How Our Children Really Learn – and Why They Need to Play More and Memorize Less.
Appearing alongside co-author Roberta Michnick Golinkoff, Hirsh-Pasek explained that they were motivated to update the book for parents navigating the digital age and the advent of technologies such as smartphones, tablets and AI. Still, the book’s central message remains unchanged: “We’ve learned since then,” she explains, “that the characteristics of how kids play, mirror exactly the characteristics of how human brains learn.”
