Jonathan Rabner is a third-year Clinical Psychology doctoral student working in the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic. He began his academic journey at Brandeis University, initially solely majoring in economics, but by his junior year, he realized he missed working with people and felt drawn to psychology. He graduated with a BA in Psychology and Economics and continued to pursue psychology by receiving his MA in Psychology from Boston University.
Currently, under the guidance of Dr. Philip Kendall, Rabner's research focuses on treating youth with anxiety. He is specifically interested in studying why some youths do not initially respond to treatment and exploring the long-term consequences of non-response, including substance use.
Jonathan's research in this area led to him being awarded the 2020 Weinstein Award. This annual award is funded through the generous support of Stephen and Rosalyn Weinstein of the Civic Foundation, who focus their advocacy on initiatives related to drug and alcohol addiction. The summer funding supported by the Weinstein Award allowed Rabner to focus on his research examining how substance use affects outcomes for youth undergoing anxiety treatment.
Upon graduation, Rabner hopes to continue conducting research on the treatment of youth with anxiety and implement evidence-based practices in his clinical work.
