Shamim Pia is from Bangladesh. Her academic journey commenced at the University of Dhaka, a prestigious institution in Bangladesh, where she successfully obtained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Department of Philosophy. Following her academic endeavors, Pia transitioned into a role as a lecturer at Jagannath University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she imparted knowledge and guidance to aspiring minds. Pia's scholarly pursuits are diverse and encompass a wide range of interests, including Asian immigrants, juvenile justice, theories of crime and deviance and graduate research methods. Beyond her academic pursuits, Pia finds solace in spending quality time with her four-year-old son, husband, and cherished family members back in Bangladesh. As she eagerly anticipates the next chapter of her academic journey, Pia is thrilled to go on board with her Ph.D. studies at Temple University in the forthcoming fall semester. She is committed to contribute to the field of criminal justice with her devotion and academic excellence.
