The Mayor’s Internship Program is a unique, PAID, public service, full-time summer internship program providing 50 students a tremendous opportunity to learn about city government while building valuable research and administrative skills in 40 different city agencies.
The internship requires 25 to 37.5 hours per week, depending on the department's needs. This includes weekly professional development sessions and group projects. Each year, interns complete a group or community project and present their findings at the closing ceremony in front of the mayor or senior leadership. Interns are also invited to participate in optional summer programming. Interns are paid $18 an hour and contribute to research, administrative tasks and support work!
If you are interested in city government, public policy or public service, this opportunity may be the perfect fit for you!
Senior psychology major Marissa Ballew interned during summer 2025 and shared her experience, the connections she made and how the Mayor’s Internship Program made a lasting impact on her.
Read all about Marissa’s experience in city government and how that is translating into real-world experience!
