Criminal Justice Associate Professor Jamie Fader

Criminal Justice Associate Professor Jamie Fader has received a research grant from the National Institute of Justice for her project, Reducing Gang Violence: A Long-Term Follow-Up of a Randomized Trial of Functional Family Therapy. The project builds on a prior study conducted that examined the effects of a well-known program Functional Family Therapy that was modified to address young people at risk of joining gangs. Researchers found modest but positive short-term effects and also cost savings over treatment in that study and are now following up with the same research participants five years afterward to assess long-term effects of treatment and to document their transitions to early adulthood. Researchers will also be conducting focus groups with local stakeholders about addressing youth at risk of gang violence.

Way to go, Dr. Fader!
