Biography
Trae Manzili is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in Temple University’s Department of Africology and African American Studies. His research focuses on Cultural Continuity, Pan-Africanism, and African philosophy.
He has been the instructor of record for eight courses, including Black Social and Political Thought, Blacks in World History, Hip-Hop & Black Culture, and Introduction to Africology, where he brings innovative teaching methods to explore Africana experiences. In addition to teaching, he has represented his department as a graduate committee representative and as an Ambassador of Africology, promoting collaboration within and beyond the academic community.
A former educator in New York school districts and a proud alumnus of the University at Albany (M.A. in Africana Studies) and Canisius University (B.S. in Physical Education with a minor in Psychology), Trae has been recognized for his academic and professional contributions. He is a member of the National Council for Black Studies’ Ankh Maat Wedjau Honor Society, a recipient of the Sage Asante Award, and an Advisor to a promising undergraduate student who became one of the recipients of the NCBS Scholarship Essay contest winners in 2025.
