Sarah DeLucca is a PhD candidate from Poughkeepsie, NY. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marist College with a BS in Criminal Justice and went on to earn her MA in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Criminology and Deviance at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. During her undergraduate studies, she interned with several agencies such as the Dutchess County Office of Probation and Community Corrections and with Humane Law Enforcement at the Dutchess County SPCA. Sarah has also served as an Academic Advisor and a part-time faculty member teaching Intro to Criminal Justice, Corrections, and Criminology at Marist College. Sarah is currently teaching full-time as a Visiting Professional Lecturer at Marist College.
She presented her work "Predicting Initiation to Treatment for Youth on Probation: A Multi-Level Approach" at the 2020 Addictions Health Services Research (AHSR) Conference and received recognition for having a top-rated abstract. She has also presented several times at the American Society of Criminology (ASC) conferences. More recently, she published a paper in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence examining treatment initiation for juveniles on probation. She was also a research assistant to Dr. Belenko working on a project to improve linkages to substance use treatment in the Philadelphia community.
Her research interests fall under the intersection of public health and criminal justice, specifically substance use treatment access, linkages, and initiation for juveniles under community supervision. Her other interests include rehabilitation and reentry, corrections, and probation and parole.
