Barker is a 5th year PhD student who holds an MA in Criminal Justice from Temple University and a BS in Criminology & Justice Studies from Drexel University. Throughout their time at Temple, Barker has been dedicated to working closely with professors within the classroom as a teaching assistant and furthering their experience as an instructor in higher education. Barker has now taken on the role as sole-instructor for multiple courses in Temple’s Criminal Justice Department including Introduction to Juvenile Justice and Sex Crimes & the Law. Outside the classroom, Barker has assumed the social chair position within the CJ Graduate Student Committee. As social chair, Barker helps organize professional events and works alongside committee members to promote student voices within the department. Barker’s areas of study include feminist criminology, developmental life-course criminology, and juvenile justice. Their special interests include theories of sexual offending, sex crime law, as well as reproductive health law and justice.
