Professor Douglas Duckworth Awarded Prestigious Tibetan Buddhism Grant
Professor Douglas Duckworth is the 2020 recipient of the Distinguished Research Grant in Tibetan Buddhist Studies from the Tsadra Foundation. The prestigious grant is awarded to a scholar who has made significant contributions to the field of Tibetan Buddhist Studies and is considered one of the highest awards in Tibetan Buddhist scholarship. With support from the Tsadra Foundation, Dr. Duckworth will study and translate Künzang Sönam’s 915-page commentary on The Way of the Bodhisattva, The Excellent Vase.
Dr. Duckworth will be joined in a virtual roundtable discussion by leading Tibetan Buddhist scholars José Cabezón (University of California-Santa Barbara), Jonathan Gold (Princeton University), and master translator Wulstan Fletcher (Padmakara) to discuss Dr. Duckworth's project on The Way of the Bodhisattva, The Excellent Vase.

Dr. Duckworth is currently the chair of graduate studies for the Religion department and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Tibetan and Indian Buddhism and Asian philosophy.
