Asia is a vast continent with a rich history of language, culture, business and society. From our minor in Arabic to our major in Chinese and everything in between, the College of Liberal Arts’ Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Languages offers students rigorous academic training so that they can gain a better understanding of the world’s largest and most populous continent and how its various peoples connect and build societies. Students in the department’s many programs have a deep and diverse world to explore, and their journeys doing so are chronicled here. Robert Berry, CLA ’08, was recently awarded the 2019 Temple University Distinguished Alumni Award. In a speech on campus last week, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Officer pleaded with students to do whatever they could to support humanitarian aid for refugees.
