Congratulations to Dr. Elizabeth Wheaton-Paramo (Temple Ph.D. '06), for having her research on human trafficking featured in advertisements for Southern Methodist University, where she teaches.

Elizabeth earned a Ph.D. in Economics in 2007, where she focused on labor economics as her area of concentration.

Currently, Elizabeth is a Professor of Instruction at Southern Methodist University, where she has won numerous awards for her teaching. Her area of research is human rights - she is the author of The Economics of Human Rights, published by Routledge - and the economics of human trafficking. She is currently the principal investigator on a $1.187 million federal earmark grant from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) to SMU to build a human trafficking data warehouse and complete multiple human trafficking data research projects.
