The College of Liberal Arts held its 2025-2026 Faculty Awards Celebration on April 1 in Mazur Hall, recognizing the achievements of an exceptional group of educators and graduate students.
“We have over 300 full-time faculty in the College of Liberal Arts, as well as adjunct faculty, so it’s a big place,” said Dean Richard Deeg in his opening remarks. “Winning one of these is, therefore, I think, really extraordinary. It really signifies those who have gone above and beyond in their contributions.”
Winners were selected by an award committee led by faculty members Christina Baker and Srimati Mukherjee, who alternated presenting awards.
The first award given was the Edward Buthusiem Faculty Research Award, recognizing faculty whose applied research enhances our knowledge of how large-scale societal decisions are made and grows the University's public reputation for scholarly excellence. Dean Deeg presented the award to the Department of Sociology’s James Bachmier, whose work focuses on immigration in the United States.
