Hispanic voices from across Temple University came together on October 7 for In The Hyphen, a panel discussion coordinated by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese in collaboration with the Center for Anti-Racism.
Panelists included Miguel Mostafá, dean of the College of Science and Technology; Mariola V. Alvarez, director of graduate studies and associate professor of art history; and Michael Usino, CLA ’06, ’10, assistant dean of admissions and enrollment management in the College of Public Health. The discussion, moderated by Live Work Philadelphia executive director Javier Suárez, touched on several topics pertinent to the experiences of modern-day Hispanic-Americans, from the correlation between Spanish fluency and cultural identity to the backlash toward Bad Bunny’s announcement as Super Bowl halftime performer.
