The Philosophy department congratulates Eli Benjamin Israel, one of two Nordev Prize recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year for his preliminary examination "Homo Noumenon: An Atemporal Reading of Kant's Postulate of the Immortality of the Soul". Eli Benjamin Israel is a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy at Temple University, specializing in ethics, moral psychology, social philosophy, and feminist philosophy. His current research focuses on the normativity of trust and consent within interpersonal relationships. Israel has published in academic philosophy journals and has been featured in interviews and podcasts discussing his research.
Israel serves as the chair of the American Philosophical Association's Graduate Student Council, and is affiliated with several research projects and networks, including the Center for Positive Sexuality, the Ethical Dating Online Network, the Conceptual Foundations of Conflict Project, and the Liberalism Rekindled Research Project. Prior to his doctoral studies at Temple University, Israel completed his M.A. and B.A. in Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
