Sussan is a PhD graduate from the Department of Political Science. Her research concentrated on social policy reforms and identity politics. Her dissertation analyzed the use of gender reforms as a tool for foreign policy in the case of Saudi Arabia. 

Sussan also holds an MA in Political Science from Villanova University, as well as a Certificate in International Politics.
