Lucas de Souza Martins, a professor of U.S. Politics and Global Affairs, is a PhD candidate in Diplomatic History at Temple University, focusing on U.S.–Latin America relations, and holds a master’s degree in U.S. History from Georgia State University. Trained as a journalist at Mackenzie Presbyterian University, he has served as a press officer at the Brazilian Federal Senate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) in Brasília. He has been a research associate at The Carter Center, the Wilson Center, and the Washington Brazil Office (WBO). Based in Washington, D.C., he regularly analyzes American politics as a guest on CNN Brazil, Jovem Pan News, Times Brasil CNBC, and other Brazilian media outlets. He speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
