Kyle McDonald is a doctoral student in sociology at Temple University. He graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Drexel University in 2022. At Drexel, he worked as a research assistant in The PLACE Lab on sacrifice zones in Southeast Chicago. He received his M.A. in Sociology from Temple University in 2024. He currently works as a teaching assistant at Temple in classes that include Introduction to Sociology, Ethnicity & the Immigrant Experience in the U.S., Statistical Methods in Sociology, and Data Analysis. His Second-Year Paper was titled, "Onward and Upward: Legal Status and Onward Mexican Migration Away from a Newly Militarized Border, 1995-2000." His dissertation work will focus on citizenship, immigration enforcement, legal status, and mixed-status family dynamics. Specifically, he aims to explore how citizenship can be experienced differently. What happens when citizenship does not guarantee the safety or security that we assume comes with it? What happens when citizenship is questioned?
