Biography

George R. Chichirau, Ph.D., is a lecturer in public policy and quantitative methods with  teaching experience at Northeastern University, UMass Boston, Suffolk University, and Boston University previous to Temple. He is a co-author of Public Policymaking (9th Edition, Cengage Learning) and of Supporting Shrinkage: Better Planning and Decision-Making for Legacy Cities (SUNY Press). He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Public Policy from UMass and a B.A. in Political Science and Classical Studies from Carleton College.

His research and professional work center on applied statistics, program evaluation, and fiscal policy. As Policy Research Supervisor at the Massachusetts Office of the State Auditor, he leads quantitative oversight for the Division of Local Mandates, designing statistical models and building analytic dashboards that translate fiscal data into executive and public reporting. His recent published reviews examine energy-program equity and the financial obligations of transportation network companies. He teaches courses spanning statistical analysis, quantitative techniques, comparative and American politics, and urban studies, with an emphasis on practical, public-sector applications.
