Garrett O’Dwyer’s research interests center on the impact of place-based interventions to address urban challenges and mitigate systemic inequities. He received a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Drexel’s University’s Dornsife School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his academic studies, Garrett has specialized in housing and community development policy for over 15 years. He currently serves as the Policy Director for the Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations (PACDC) where he works with legislators and administration officials on a federal, state, and local level on issues related to affordable housing, economic development, vacant land management, and community health. Garrett sits on Boards and Committees of both local and national organizations and initiatives. His work has been covered by regional outlets, like the Philadelphia Inquirer and WHYY, as well as national outlets, like the New York Times and Shelterforce Magazine.
In his free time, Garrett can be found in South Philadelphia spending time with his partner, Danielle, and their two cats.
