Bailey is a Ph.D. candidate working on a dissertation about utopia and apocalypse in modern SF by Black and Indigenous authors. She is interested in how history gets translated into speculative and fantastic fiction and how these genres make both history and the future look new. Other academic interests include pedagogy, critical theory, and all things weird. Non-academic interests include the outdoors and trying to keep up with her two small children.
