Albania Garcia is a PhD student in the Department of Criminal Justice at Temple University. She earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Temple University and her M.S. in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Criminology from Saint Joseph’s University.

Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Albania gained professional experience working in both state and federal government. She has also served in academic roles as a graduate and teaching assistant.

Her research interests include policing, procedural justice, legal estrangement, immigration and police-community relations, and the relationship between marginalized communities and legal institutions. She is particularly interested in how policing practices and experiences with legal institutions influence trust, legitimacy, and perceptions of the justice system.
