Nicole Johnson is a PhD candidate originally from North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree in criminology with a minor in Chinese studies from NC State University, and a Master’s degree in criminology, law and society from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. At Temple, Nicole has worked as a research assistant on a number of projects. She has worked with Dr. Taylor on an assessment of Chicago Police Department’s investigatory stop practices as well as with Dr. Wooditch on a DHS-funded project to create an agent-based simulation tool assessing the impacts of gang disruption. Most recently, she worked with Dr. Roman on an evaluation of a coordinated law enforcement initiative to disrupt drug trafficking gangs. Nicole’s dissertation is being funded by the National Collaboration on Gun Violence Research, and explores the potential influence of drug markets on gun violence across a network of neighborhoods in three cities.
