Caitlin Joyce (she/her) is a PhD Candidate and teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology. In 2024, she earned Temple’s graduate certificate in Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies. She received her BA (Major: Sociology; Minors: Cultural Anthropology and Gender/Sexuality Studies) and graduated magna cum laude from Arcadia University in 2020.
She is guided by feminist queer theory in her examination of online communities, particularly fandom spaces. Her current research examines how fanfiction, homoerotica, and other forms of LGBT+ media may work as platforms for identity construction and cultural resistance to heteronormativity.
Outside of class, you can probably find her playing video games or searching for the next best cup of coffee/bubble tea. If you'd like to connect, find her at @CaitlinStudies on X/Twitter.
