Caitlin Joyce (she/her) is a PhD student and teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology. She is also in the process of completing Temple’s graduate certificate in Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies, as well as the graduate certificate in Teaching in Higher Education. She received her BA (Major: Sociology; Minors: Cultural Anthropology and Gender/Sexuality Studies) and graduated magna cum laude from Arcadia University in 2020.
She is guided by feminist queer theory in her examination of online communities, particularly fandom spaces, and she is interested in exploring the concept of identity work. Her current research examines how fanfiction, homoerotica, and other forms of LGBT+ media may work as platforms for identity construction and cultural resistance to heteronormativity.
Outside of class, you can probably find her playing video games or searching for the next best cup of coffee. If you'd like to connect, find her at @CaitlinStudies on Twitter.
