Chelsey is a sixth-year PhD student originally from the Philadelphia area. She received her BA in Psychology from Temple University in 2015. Previously, Chelsey interned in the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice working with the Executive Director of Frontline Dads. Her research interests center around harm reduction policy reform and the collateral consequences of incarceration.
Chelsey recently completed a project working with a Stoneleigh Fellow, who collaborated with the Philadelphia's District Attorney's Office (DAO) to implement an Early Probation Termination (EPT) initiative. She conducted surveys with those granted early probation termination and analyzed the data after receiving approval from the Institutional Review Board.
She worked with Drs. Belenko and Hiller on a Juvenile Drug Treatment Court (JDTC) Federal Guidelines Evaluation for three years, conducting research seeking moderators of youth outcomes when in the juvenile justice system and data analysis on youth surveys.
Currently, she is evaluating mental health and risk factors regarding the youth on the JDTC project, and taking steps to complete her dissertation, examining perceptions of 12-step members and their experiences with the criminal justice system.
