Biography

Pattie McCarthy is the author of seven books of poetry : six from Apogee Press: wifthing (2021), Quiet Book (2015), Marybones (2012), Table Alphabetical of Hard Words (2010), Verso (2004), and bk of (h)rs (2002); and Nulls, from horse less press (2014). She has also published over a dozen chapbooks, most recently three tides from Bloof Books (2022) and extraordinary tides, winner of the 2021 Omnidawn Press Chapbook Contest (2023). She was a Pew Fellow in the Arts in 2011. In summer 2013, McCarthy was an artist resident at the Elizabeth Bishop House in Great Village, Nova Scotia. A nontenure track professor, she has been teaching at Temple since 2004. She regularly teaches Introductory Poetry Workshop, Intermediate Poetry Workshop, Advanced Poetry Workshop, Senior Capstone, Modern Poetry, Contemporary Poetry, the Graduate Poetry Workshop, Graduate Craft in Poetry, and MFA Manuscript Tutorial. McCarthy is currently the Assistant Director of Temple's MFA in Creative Writing
