Biography

Julia D’Aleandro Meyers (she/her/hers) is an adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Temple University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Italian and Asian Studies, summa cum laude, with distinction in both majors. She went on to complete her M.A. and Ph.D. in Romance Languages at the University of Pennsylvania, where her doctoral dissertation focused on South Asian women writers in Italy. Julia’s academic work bridges Italian Studies and South Asian Studies, with a strong emphasis on migration narratives and diaspora studies in both Italian and transnational contexts.

Julia teaches a wide range of courses at Temple University, covering Italian language, literature, and culture, and is recognized for her innovative pedagogical approaches, integrating educational technology and active learning methods into curriculum design. In addition to her teaching, Julia is also the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Council for International Education (PACIE),
where she contributes to advancing global readiness and international education initiatives across the state.

Her research interests focus on migration and diaspora studies, heritage and multilingual language instruction, and the intersection of gender, food and culture. She has collaborated on a number of interdisciplinary projects and received recognition for her contributions to curriculum development and teaching excellence.
