Dr. Cox received her PhD from Temple University's Department of Religion in 2016. Her work focuses on contemporary US Christianity, gender, sexuality, and AIDS. She is interested in archival research and preserving the histories of queer communities. Dr. Cox has served as the interim coordinator of the Women's and Gender studies program at Rowan university, where she is also the coordinator of the Philosophy and World Religions department. Dr. Cox has presented twice at the AAR this year, once in a session by the Teaching Religion unit on teaching controversial topics in a time of censorship, and then at a Gay Men & Religion unit session on religion and gay history. Dr. Cox has just received a small projects grant from the Wabash Center, where she has been a part of their 2023 Hybrid Workshop for Early Career Religion Faculty Teaching Undergraduates. In the '22-'23 academic year, Dr. Cox was one of two faculty fellows for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Initiative. As part of this, she led several workshops educating colleagues about pedagogy that is accessible and inclusive, particularly (but not limited) to students with disabilities. This year, she has served on Rowan University's task force aimed at restructuring its Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
