The College of Liberal Arts is proud to introduce nine new alumni board members for 2018. These new members will join thirteen returning members and, together, will serve as the coordinating organization of alumni activities for the College of Liberal Arts.
Ashton Adams, Political Science & Public Relations '17
Constituent Service Specialist for State Representative Brian Sims
"I joined the board to create a stronger network between current students and College of Liberal Arts alumni. Liberal Arts alumni have so much to give to current students in terms of connections and experience and I believe I can add to that as a recent alumna."
Erin Dwyer, Political Science '16
Associate at Ceisler Media and Issue Advocacy
"My advice for incoming College of Liberal Arts students is to take advantage of every opportunity Temple offers, whether inside the classroom or around Philadelphia. Temple allows you to grow, network and meet new people, capitalize on those experiences."
Portia Fullard, Africology and African American Studies '10
Executive Director at Sky Community Partners
"The education, skills and experience afforded to me by Temple University allowed me to exceptionally perform in my professional journey. My hope in joining the alumni board is to provide that same opportunity to other students and share my testimony."
Susan Makurath, French and Spanish '73
Strategic Account Director at Johnson and Johnson (Retired)
"I give back to Temple because Temple is a ray of hope for students who cannot afford nor attend other schools. I want to support the broad based curriculum of the College of Liberal Arts."
Precious Mines, Political Science '04
Program Director at College Possible
"My favorite Temple memories were made when I was working in the chemistry lab office with one of my mentors, the late George McCurdy II. We shared so many great mentoring moments and I was introduced to so many students from various backgrounds. It was exhilarating."
Eric Mursch, Psychology '14
Recruiter at Chubb
"My advice for incoming College of Liberal Arts students is to make academics your top priority and learn from your professors. They are some of the most knowledgeable and interesting people you will encounter. Get involved with organizations and initiatives you care about and make the most out of the short time you will be here."
Charlotte Myer, Political Science '18
Finance Director at Friends of Tim Kearney
"I give back to Temple because Temple gave me my best friends, a global passport, and a broad and insightful education."
Brittany Newton, Psychology '17
Import Compliance Consultant at BDP International
"My advice for incoming College of Liberal Arts students is to go after things you genuinely have interest in, even if that means doing it alone. Don't be afraid of going places and doing things by yourself! You may have some of the best times of your life and meet people along the way you'll never forget."
Alexander Whitney, Geography and Urban Studies '15
Engineering Technologist at BAE Systems
"My favorite Temple memory was making new friends everywhere I went. Inside and outside of the classroom, having a group of friends to support you is important."
All graduates of the College of Liberal Arts are welcomed as official members of the College of Liberal Arts Alumni Association upon graduation. In addition, all University graduates automatically become members of the Temple University Alumni Association. Both organizations host events and programs that encourage alumni to connect based on shared interests and professional affiliations.
