Criminal Justice professors Steven Belenko and Matthew Hiller were recently awarded a grant to work with Chestnut Health Systems to conduct a national multisite evaluation of the guidelines for effective juvenile drug treatment courts JDTC. These guidelines were developed by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, which awarded grants to a number of JDTCs to implement the guidelines. The study involved both a randomized experiment in three jurisdictions in which eligible youth will be randomly assigned to either the JDTC or traditional juvenile court, and seven jurisdictions in which youth will placed into the JDTC or traditional juvenile court using a regression discontinuity design.
