Amanda Orme (CLA ’14), double major in Spanish and International Business. Amanda also studied abroad in Oviedo, Spain during the spring semester of her sophomore year. “During my last year at Temple I interned at Samuel Shapiro & Company which handles a range of activities surrounding importing and exporting for small to medium sized businesses. Shortly after graduating I began working full time as a Global Logistics Specialist at their headquarters in Baltimore. I coordinate the international freight for companies importing to the United States. My job involves designing a route for the cargo, pricing it and booking it with a carrier. I work across cultures and time zones with our partners located all over the world. In fact, my Spanish comes in handy when I have to work out a complex problem with one of our South American agents. Earlier this month, the company celebrated their 100-year anniversary with many of our agents in attendance. I had the opportunity to meet CEO's and upper management of the companies I work with from Switzerland, to China, to Peru.”
