Aleksandra is a Temple University student studying psychology and criminal justice, with a passion for language access and cross-cultural understanding. She has worked in diverse roles including interpretation, teaching, and community-facing positions where she learned the importance of clear compassionate communication. Aleksandra is especially interested in supporting individuals from multicultural backgrounds and believes language should be a bridge, not a barrier, to care, education, and opportunity.

Tzai Robinson is a Chinese major and Global Studies minor with a focus on international relations and cross-cultural communication. Tzai’s academic interests include U.S.–China relations, translation studies, and the role of language in global engagement.

In Spring 2025 Tzai studied abroad in Taiwan, where she volunteered with International Companions for Learning, supporting cross-cultural exchange by hosting weekly online learning sessions with middle-school Taiwanese students.

Tzai currently serves as a member of Temple University’s Education Abroad Student Advisory Committee, where she works alongside a comprised body of students providing suggestions, perspectives, and feedback on various aspects of Education Abroad’s operations and offerings.

Hook Yang (Jia-han Yang) is a ’25 graduate of the Applied Research and Evaluation program at Temple University and holds a degree in Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics from National Taipei University. His interests lie at the intersection of linguistics and educational research, where he has studied students’ language aptitude, learner motivation, and learning strategies across U.S. and Taiwanese contexts. He is also actively involved in academic service and volunteering, and cares about collaboration and equity. Outside of work (and screens), he enjoys cooking, long walks and runs, watching ice hockey, and wandering around new cities.

Jake is a second-year student at Temple pursuing a double major in Social Work and in Spanish. Jake has been interested in studying Spanish since a young age, and his skills progressed through his volunteer work as a Spanish translator-interpreter for the United Way of Hunterdon County, in his hometown of Flemington, New Jersey. Jake has continued to refine his language skills at the university level, taking various advanced Spanish classes at Temple. Jake is currently the Secretary of the Temple Immigration Rights Advocacy Club. He is interested in pursuing a practice area within social work that involves providing Spanish-accessible social services for the local immigrant population in Philadelphia. Jake is excited to build his professional skills with the CLA Translation Institute and to build relationships with local organizations and community members.

Fatim is a translator and interpreter of English into Spanish. She is a sophomore double majoring in Journalism and Spanish, with a minor in Global Communication & Media Arts at Temple University. Having lived in Mexico for five years during her childhood, she developed a strong interest in language learning and cross-cultural communication, which continues to shape her academics and professional goals.

As an intern in the CLA Translation Institute, Fatim hopes to further strengthen her skills professionally, while delivering clear and accurate information to English and Spanish-speaking clients.
