Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies
The Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies degree programs, certificates and minors welcome students interested in an intersectional approach to gender, sexuality, race and other key identities and the consequences these intersections have in people’s lives. Our courses range from foundations in Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies to gender violence to LGBTQ activism and theory. As an interdisciplinary program housed in the College of Liberal Arts, we explore the many variables that contribute to women's experience as a social group, gender as an analytical category and the social, political and cultural functioning of sexuality.
Why Study Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies at the College of Liberal Arts?
Above all else, we listen to what you want to learn about. Our Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies students work independently as well as in groups, join student organizations and land internships throughout the region in various industries. And many of our courses are cross-listed with other courses, which makes it easier for students to graduate on time.
As a student in one of our Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies degree programs, minors or certificates, you'll explore the core concepts of feminist theory through. You'll investigate and interpret women's historical contributions, gender activism and sexual and racial equality. The world has made great strides forward in becoming more equal, but the scales are still unbalanced. By studying the current issues and the history of how we got here, you'll become empowered to fight for a more just world for people of all genders and sexualities.
