Mr. Johnson has more than thirty-five years of experience in municipal finance. In 1987 he founded Fairmount Capital Advisors, a public finance consulting firm serving state and local governments, health systems and academic medical centers, colleges and universities, and other non-profit organizations. Mr. Johnson also served as independent director and board chair for a family of BlackRock mutual funds with approximately 105 portfolios and over $375 billion in total assets under management for 23 years. Before founding Fairmount, Mr. Johnson was Vice President for Financial Affairs and Treasurer of Temple University. Prior to that, he served as Director of Finance and then Managing Director for the City of Philadelphia. After leaving city government, Mr. Johnson served as a member of the Board of Education for The School District of Philadelphia for five years, for which he chaired the Board’s Budget and Finance Committee. Early in his career, Mr. Johnson was a tenured Associate Professor of Finance at Temple University and a Research Economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance, an MBA, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
