I have taught Spanish, French, and Italian in a variety of full-class and small-group settings, and have also worked as a medical and legal translator and interpreter. I hold an M.A. in French (Linguistics and Pedagogy) from Middlebury College, as well as a Master of International Affairs from Penn State. In teaching languages, I seek to prepare students for the real world in an encouraging and rigorous classroom environment. My teaching and research are in constant dialogue, and I am currently involved in two highly-practical research projects: 1) making language assessments more effective through authentic materials and tasks, and 2) maximizing language learning through positive emotions (“flow”).
