Lamees received her MA degree in comparative literature from Cairo University. Her teaching career started in Egypt in 2003, where she was a university ESL instructor. Her teaching career continued after she moved to New York City, where she taught at City University of New York. At CUNY she taught various levels of Arabic, modern Arabic literature for native speakers, and modern Arabic literature in translation. She also was a scriptwriter for a major Arabic television program serving the Arab community in the U.S. and Canada. Lamees was the Arabic language editor of "Otherness," the online student magazine of the Education and Language Acquisition Department, LaGuardia Community College. Currently, she is enrolled in a PhD program and majoring in literary criticism.
