Ritwika Biswas is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Geography and Urban Studies. Originally from India, Ritwika holds a B.Sc in Geography from Presidency College, University of Calcutta and a M.A in Geography from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. Her research mainly focuses on gender and space, specifically women’s negotiations and safety in public spaces (particular area of interest – India). Her interests also include the broader domain of human geography, labor inequality, economy and globalization. Ritwika’s previous publications include her Master’s thesis, published in form of a book and a paper, both centered on gender and space in reference to India. Before enrolling in Temple for her doctoral studies, she was associated with non-governmental organizations as a researcher and proposal developer.
