The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership. The Council for European Studies (CES) is moving to Temple University and finding its new home within our walls in Gladfelter Hall. After a thirty-year tenure at Columbia University, CES is ready to embark on a new chapter of innovation and collaboration with the vibrant Temple and CLA community.

Why the College of Liberal Arts at Temple? The interdisciplinary study of Europe aligns perfectly with our core disciplines, particularly in political science, history and European languages and literatures. It's a perfect pairing. The College eagerly anticipates the dynamic collaborations that will emerge from this partnership, inviting all enthusiasts of European studies to join us in forging meaningful connections with CES.

About The Council for European Studies (CES)

Established in 1970 as a modest non-profit organization, CES has transformed into a renowned academic association boasting 1,200 individuals and 80 institutional members. The Annual Conference of Europeanists has become a global phenomenon, attracting scholars from North America, Europe, Asia and beyond. CES's evolution from a social science and law-focused entity to a multidisciplinary powerhouse reflects its commitment to holistic exploration.

CES's 2023 conference was held at the University of Iceland in June 2023, its largest yet, with more than 1,400 participants. The next conference will be held in early July in Lyon, France. We hope the 2025 conference will be held at Temple University in late June.
